Use/Overview

The Shibari Halo Wand is designed to be used for giving massages but many of us like using wands for clitoral stimulation or other sexual pleasures. The Shibari Halo Wand can be used for back massages, shoulder massages and more. I contacted Shirbari Wands asking if they were willing to work with bloggers and I got the “Yes, we would love to send you our Halo Wand!” I was excited as I am on the search for the PERFECT wand for me. There are many perks when it comes to the Shibari HaloWand from the material, being lightweight, rechargeable and waterproof. There is just so much about this wand that is awesome. The Halo Wand is available in 3 colors Pink, Black and Purple, I received mine in purple.

Halo comes with a Li-Ion rechargeable battery. Shibari Halo Wand is very lightweight lighter than some of the other wands I have held or owned.

Materials

When it comes to items that you will know that I try to make sure that I use and review body safe materials ONLY, so the Shibari Halo Wand is of course no different. The HaloWand is made out of FDA approved silicone and ABS plastic both are nonporous materials and both are 100% body safe.

Silicone

Silicone is nonporous, hypoallergenic, latex free, phthalates and body safe. When it comes to toys or any pleasure object you may plan to share with your partner or even in other places of your own body you want a material that isn’t porous and that can be sterilized. Silicone is all of those rolled into one; if you are prone to PH balance upsets or anything like that you will definitely love the Shabari HaloWand. There is no texture on the silicone at all from the head to halfway down the shaft you will find the smooth silicone. Depending on the purpose of the silicone it can be plush or hard, the silicone used on the Shibari Halo Wand has very little give to it. Some silicones do have a “draggy” feeling to them and the Shabari Halo Wand sadly isn’t an exception to this one. Since there is a slight “draggy” feeling it is recommended to use water based lubricant with the wand or you will be rubbing yourself raw instead of getting orgasmic pleasure or a wonderful massage.

ABS Plastic

ABS Plastic has all the same properties of being phthalates free, latex free, nonporous, and hypoallergenic and body safe however plastic can’t be sterilized. ABS Plastic is of course hard but the only part that will come in contact with the plastic on the Halo Wand is your hands.

Design & Function

The Shibari Halo has a sleek look to it and is easy to hold. You are going to be getting a rechargeable wand which is great as most wands leave you attached to a cord and the wall. To recharge your Halo Wand you will either want to plug it in to a wall outlet or plug it into your computer USB port. You can honestly charge the Halo on the go if you needed to since you have the option of charging it via the wall or a USB port. The wall adapter is included with your wand, meaning you won’t have to go seek out an adapter. You will want to insert the charger into the small circle area on the back of the wand. When I inserted my charger and removed it a piece of the silicone came off the wand, I did contact Shibari Wands about this. Response I received, “Our manufacture has been contacted about this happening and they say that it will NOT take away from the waterproof feature.”

Make sure that you charge your Halo Wand upon arrival and before your initial use. Charging can take up to 3 hours to get a full charge upside to the long charge is that you should get around 3 hours of playtime out of the charge depending on the setting. When you are charging your Halo Wand you will see that the control panel will illuminate with a red light, once your wand is fully charged the light will go out. Make sure that once the wand is charged and you unplug it from the USB port or wall that you remove the charger from the wand as well. Leaving the charger plugged into the wand while it isn’t plugged in the wall or USB port the battery for whatever reason will drain and you will lose that 3 hours you put in to charge up your wand.

The Halo has 10 different settings on it YES, you read that right TEN different settings to choose from. These settings range from 2 settings of nothing but steady vibrations while the other settings are variation of patterns and speeds. If you are one who loves patterns you can’t go wrong with the Halo. When you are using pattern settings the control panel will flash to the pattern being used.

To power on your HaloWand you will want to push the bottom button that resembles a (Q), once on you can easily change through your settings and speeds using the top button that resembles a teardrop (

). The teardrop or top button will allow you to choose your desired setting; you can easily power your Halo off if you need to in a hurry but make sure that you remember the setting you were on as there is no memory on the wand. If you power off the Halo you will start back at the lowest steady vibration speed.

Halo’s neck is also slightly flexible so you are able to bend the head a little to get in the right angle for the perfect massage or to hit your clit just right. The head of Halo is about the same size as most of the wand vibrators on the market. Holding on to the plastic portion of the wand will not leave your hand numb as the vibrations don’t travel down the handle as bad as I originally thought they would. Most of the vibration stays in the head which is where it should be right?! To me the vibrations on the Halo Wand aren’t fully buzzy but they aren’t 100% rumbly either, I would have to say they are rumbly with hints of buzziness depending on the setting you are using. Halo’s vibrations are almost whisper quiet but, not 100%!! There would be no reason to worry about someone hearing them through a closed door. If you are worried that someone could possibly hear the Halo’s vibrations you can simply turn on some music which will help drown them out.

One of the best functions of the Halo is that it is waterproof and can easily washed off when it comes to cleaning or you can use it in the shower for massages. I am not the type that seeks out waterproof toys but most all toys that are hitting the market are waterproof, beings that the Halo is waterproof it does make clean up a little simpler and you have no worries of water, bleach or toy cleaners getting inside and damaging your wand. For me I think that is about the only positive thing about the Halo being waterproof for me others will be thrilled knowing that they can submerge the Halo in water without killing it. Even though it is common sense you will want to make sure that you do NOT operate your Halo Wand in water while attached to the power cord. I mention not using it in or around water while attached to the power cord because, for whatever reason the wand will power on and operate even while charging. It is NOT recommended that you use the Halo while it is plugged and charging even though it turns on while plugged in to charge.

Packaging

You Shibari Halo Wand will be packaged in a cardboard box that is sturdy enough for short term storage. The box is discreet in a sense that it does NOT scream sex toy, the box simply states that the Halo is a massager. Nowhere on the box does it say anything about being used for sexual pleasure. You will however find a picture of the Halo on the box, but again it isn’t screaming sex toy at you when you look at the box. So the packaging isn’t something you would need to hide from your kids, family or friends as it is plainly a massager.

All of the above will be cradled in a plastic insert that holds everything in place during shipping.

You will get a Limited Warranty on your Halo that is good for 12 months after the purchase date and you MUST be able to provide proof of purchase. This Limited Warranty does NOT cover things such as improper voltage used for charging, abuse or misuse of the wand ect..

When it comes to a User’s Manual you will get a simple tri fold paper that tells you a slight overview on what the Halo is made for, how to get started with charging and using your Halo as well as how to clean and store your Halo.

While the box that the Halo Wand arrives in is pretty sturdy if you are forever taking your wand out to play with it or massage your partner it will breakdown over time. You can easily take all the contents of the Halo Packaging and toss it in the recycling bin. If you choose to toss the packaging you will want to get a toy storage pouch or a storage box to store your Halo in. I wouldn’t recommend just laying it around wherever you wish as you don’t want to scratch up the plastic.

Care & Storage

Since your Shibari HaloWand is made out of Silicone and ABS Plastic it will be easy to care for. I am pretty sure you have read in my reviews or somebody else’s reviews that silicone can be sterilized you are reading that right; the plastic portion however cannot be sterilized. I will list the many ways below on how you can clean and sterilize your Shibari Halo Wand.

It is HIGHLY recommended that you wash your Shibari Halo or any other sex toy BEFORE & AFTER each and every use.

These Ways Will NOT Sterilize Your Halo

The Following ways will NOT sterilize your Halo but will clean it!!

Antibacterial Toy Cleaners

These cleaners come in many different types such as sprays that allow you to spray down your toy and wipe clean. You can also find antibacterial toy cleaners in gel formulas that have to be washed off in the sink like you would if you used soap.

Toy Wipe & Baby Wipes

I personally use these as a preclean to make sure all juices and lube are off the toys before spraying them down with my choice of toy cleaner or before washing them off in the sink. Toy wipes or baby wipes come in handy for a quick clean up but some wipe can leave lint behind on your wand.

Antibacterial Soap and Warm Water

Simple easy to clean way especially since the Shibari Halo Wand is waterproof. You will want to make sure you rinse your wand thoroughly before use or storing.

Ways To Sterilize Your Halo

The ONLY way to sterilize the silicone of your Shibari Halo Wand is going to be with a 10% bleach solution.

10% Bleach 90% Water

This solution you can wipe down your whole wand with but it will only sterilize the silicone. You will of course want to make sure that you rinse your Halo thoroughly before use or before storage as to not get bleach in sensitive places.

You have probably read in my reviews before about boiling or top rack of dishwasher being used to sterilize silicone while this too is true, you will NOT want to place your wand in the dishwasher or a boiling pot of water. With the Halo having motors inside high temperatures can damage the motors inside as well as possibly warping or melting the plastic portion of the wand.

Using a lubricant with your Halo Wand is recommended so what type of lube should you use? When it comes to silicone products it is recommended that you use a water based lubricant as some silicone lubes can bond with the silicone toy causing issues. If you MUST use something other than a water based lubricant make sure you do a spot test on a part of the silicone that will not be coming in contact with the body.

Storing is super simple if you decide to toss all the packaging you can easily store your Halo Wand out in the open whether it be on your dresser or on the nightstand. If you need to hide your wand you can tuck it away inside your underwear drawer unless you have a designated toy drawer.

My Experience

Overall my experience wasn’t what I had hoped for it to be, I was looking for a super powerful wand that would bring me earth shattering orgasms. Sadly, I have to report that this didn’t happen for me with the Shibari Halo Wand. I have several problems with the wand some are issues with the way my body is built while others are how the wand was designed. The box states that there are 10 different settings which is true but there are only 2 steady vibration settings leaving me with very little options for power. The 2 steady vibration patterns have decent vibrations

Setting 1 would rank 3 out of 5

Setting 2 would rank a close 4 out of 5

The rest of the settings vary between a 1 out of 5 to 4 out of 5.

The vibrations can be muffled when you have your thighs closed if you are wrapping your legs around the head of Halo.

I do have an issue with the controls as it is super easy to accidentally power off your Halo Wand or change the vibration setting you were on. For me I have to hold the wand closer to where the controls are so I have better control of the wand, thus leading to accidental changing of the setting or powering it off.

Halo’s head is the perfect size for giving body massages but for clitoral massages not so much, well for me at least. I do want to mention that if you have a plump pubic mound or plump outer labia this can pose an issue getting the vibrations right to your clit. If you don’t mind wide spread vibrations then you have no worries when comes to the head not fitting well between the outer labia. My pubic mound if super plump, which causes issues with several different wands. I prefer pinpoint vibrations which I am able to get with wands that have smaller heads.

The Shibari Halo Wand isn’t a complete downer for me or my partner though. The Halo comes in handy for massages whether I am using it on my shoulders or back on my own or with the help of my partner. I do like that the handle of the Halo is long enough for me to massage my own back without having to get in awkward positions defeating the purpose of the massage.

I personally did NOT test out the waterproof function due to the small silicone piece coming off that covers the charging port. While I was assured by Shibari Wands that it wouldn’t affect the waterproof feature I still didn’t trust it. I don’t usually use my toys in the shower or tub and rarely wash them in the sink so the silicone piece coming out wasn’t a major ordeal to me.

So when it comes to rating the Shibari Halo Wand I would have to rank it:

3 out of 5 stars

If a 2^nd edition comes out I wouldn’t mind trying it if there is more power as well as more steady vibrations settings.
