Icicles No.9 Review
Icicles No.9 is manufactured by Pipedream, I was sent the Icicles No.9 for review from the wonderful folks over at Tabu Toys. This piece is very pretty and something I had to have! Read on to learn more.
Overview/Design
The Icicles No.9 is by far one of the prettiest glass pieces I have seen and have added to my collection. The photos don't do it justice one bit. The No.9 is made out of Pyrex/Borosilicate Glass making it a nonporous toy. With somewhat of a realistic shape when it comes to the head it draws you in a little more if you like the phallic head when it comes to your toys. I find that have a phallic head makes toys easier to insert which is always a plus when you don't have to put up a fight to get the toy in.
You will see a slight curve in the shaft which might work for G-Spotting for some but not for others. With the flared base on the No.9 it is safe to use for anal penetration and could also be used in a harness if you like using harnesses for anal play. The flared base will keep you from having to explain how you got a dildo stuck in your bum. The No.9 will and can appeal to many people from beginners to intermediate users and some advanced toy users might enjoy it as well as long as they aren't size queens. I don't see this piece being intimidating to anyone especially newcomers to the toy scene especially to the glass scene. No.9 measures in at 6 inches long with 5.75 inches of that being inserted. It is 1.25 inches in diameter which for me is around perfect since there is no give to the toy. If you are using this with a partner communicate what feels good and what doesn't, since there is NO give to the No.9 you can cause cervical bruising if you thrust too hard. The dildo, is clear with a "swirl of ribbon" down the middle of the shaft that is blue as well as iridescent and changes colors in some spots. The color changing depends on how the light hits it.

Material What's it Made Of? Is There Texture?
No.9 is made out of hand blown glass which most know of as Pyrex glass, yes just like the baking dishes you use in your kitchen. Pyrex or Borosilicate Glass is nonporous, latex and phathalates free meaning it won't absorb bodily fluids or harbor bacteria. There are NO chemicals that are released from the material which is a plus cause some of the cheaper porous materials have chemicals and phthalates that can be released into the body. If you are allergic to a lot of things you won't have an issue with glass since it is hypoallergenic which is another thing I love.
Glass is known for is smooth feel, while there can be a textured pattern or ridges it is still smooth. You will see at the top of the shaft it has 3 ridges which can represent foreskin. The ridges can be felt while in use, I had small issues with them but remember just because I did doesn't mean you will. The shaft has no texture on it whatsoever, so if you are worried about tons of texture there really isn't any aside from the 3 ridges at the top of the shaft. Glass glides over the skin and between the vaginal walls with no issue which is great!!
Like with most toys you want to check them over periodically for any type of damage that may have happened during use or storage. You don't really have to worry so much about damage happening to the No.9 while in use, main worry would be during storage. I will discuss how to store your No.9 a little later, however you want to check for scratches, chips or cracks before you use it. Even though some scratches may happen you want to make sure you run your fingers or nails over it to make sure it won't catch on the skin. If it will catch on your finger or nail if could very well catch on your vaginal tissue causing pain and cuts. Please make sure that your toys are in the proper condition before using them.
Some people freak out when you mean glass toys as they are worried about it breaking while being used. I will say that no matter how strong your vaginal or anal muscles are you won't snap a Pyrex toy in half. Pyrex is known to withstand a lot considering it is used in baking. If you were to drop your No.9 or any other glass Glass Dildo your chances of it breaking a slim unless it happens often which the glass could then be weakened. If by chance your glass dildo were to break it won't shatter into tiny shards like thin glass is known to, it will break into big chunks of glass.
Glass is known to be good for temperature play, you can heat it up or cool it down. However PLEASE DO NOT follow the directions in the inside of the Pipedream box. It mentions the freezer and microwave both are VERY BAD ideas when dealing with delicate parts of the body.
To heat things up you will want to place your No.9 into a hot bowl or cup of water til you have reached your desired temperature. Glass holds heat very well. Do NOT place in boiling water or microwave as this can scold and burn your insides. Glass sometimes heats unevenly an where one spot feels warm you could hit a hot spot.
To cool down the No.9 you will want to place it in a cup or bowl of cold water. Do NOT place in freezer or fridge as this can cause issues when in use. Think of how in movies when people get their tongues stuck to a pole, now imagine that with your vaginal or anal cavity. That wouldn't feel too good.
Don't take your glass piece from one extreme temperature to another as it can weaken the glass and could result in breakage.
Packaging
The packaging for the Icicles No.9 is elegant and tasteful like the rest of the icicle line, however, it isn't very discreet. You will find beautiful pictures of the No.9 on the box. The front of the box has a flap that you can pull on the small ribbon to reveal a Peek-A-BOO window where you can look in to see the No.9 displayed beautifully. On the inside flap it states some of the properties of glass toys. You will also find where Pipedream states to warm up your No.9 to put it in the microwave or to chill place in fridge. I would do neither of those the site says different then the package. I believe they need to change the wording on the package so no serious injury occurs.
The box would be great for gift giving if you aren't giving it to your significant other or friend in front of a group of people.
Inside the box you will find the dildo laying in a foam cradle as I call it. This is cut in the shape of the No.9 so it doesn't move around and is held in there. No.9's packaging can be used for storage purposes as well but note it will take up some room since its a little bulky. I personally store all toys in original packaging. You can get toy pouches from online shops that are great for storage, you can also find padded pouches as well.
Caring for Your No.9
Caring for glass is pretty simple and very easy which is a big plus for most people. Since its a solid smooth material you don't have to worry about lent being attracted to the toy. If you are sharing your toys you want to sterilize them, you can do this by boiling them in a pot of water on the stove, top rack of the dishwasher or a 10% bleach solution. Since glass is nonporous you don't have to worry about it being hard to clean at all. You can use toy cleaners, wipes and antibacterial soap with water to clean them as well.
The ridges towards the head of the No.9 collects bodily fluids so you want to make sure you clean in between the ridges very carefully to get it all.
Most of the time glass slides in easily with no lubrication aside from what your body naturally produces. If you need to use lube you can use water based, silicone, oil or hybrid lubes since it won't react with the toy.
My Experience
My overall experience was great with an exception of having pinching issues with the ridges in around the head. Please note that just because I had this issue doesn't mean you will. I am not one to discuss the way my vagina looks but with this issue of pinching I will state that my inner labia are plump as well as my outer labia so I think since there is extra skin and tissue present is what caused it to get caught in the ridges an pinched.
Aside from the pinching I encountered everything else was perfect from the slight curve to the beautiful design. I loved the length and the width of this piece. I am not one for BIG toys unless they have some give so with glass I try to stick with a 1 inch or so in girth.
I personally don't do temperature play I use my glass at room temperature and that is always cold enough for me. I can tell you that glass retains heat really well going from room temp to body temp takes a few minutes.
